How Does This Work?

I often get asked how energy healing works.

I did a session yesterday, so here's a quick run down.

First, we talk--a lot.  I want to hear why you chose Reiki/energy work.  It helps me get into a better headspace and puts you into my mind/intentions.  I also take the time to tell a little about what you'll hear and/or perhaps experience during your session.

Second, you get comfy.  I have a table I can use, but I also offer to use any chair or place in your home if it's more comfortable for you.  NO you DO NOT remove clothes!  The most I make you remove is metal, only so the energy can flow more freely.   While you begin to relax, I sit and meditate/ground.  This prepares each of us to be where needed to begin.

Then comes evaluation.  I use many tools, as well as my intuition, to feel where you may need more help.  While I cannot tell the energy where to go, I know where to stay for a bit longer when I'm working.

After all this begins the actual energy work.  I either place my hands on you or, if you'd prefer, above you in various areas.  They are mostly focus on your primary Chakra spots, but I add others as well as I see fit.  Again, I DO NOT DIRECT ENERGY--

Think of it as a cell phone--You are the phone.  I am the wire that connects to the plug for energy.  I send energy through, but the energy goes where it's needed most.  It travels anywhere in your mind/body/spirit...it knows where to go.

I've started, during my sessions, to take moments to write notes.  It can be words that come to me during the session.  It can be spots that I feel something.  Being someone that lives with FibroFog, I find writing in current time helps me not forget something that may be important.  It also gives me a moment to reground if I need.

Yesterday's session wasn't quite as long as the client needed.  However, I could sense they were coming out of their safe clear space and having trouble focusing in the present.  If I feel this sense, I wrap up the session as soon as I feel it's OK to...there's no point in exhausting us both!

After the energy work, we talk again.  I explain what I heard/saw/felt.  I make sure you are well afterwards.  I answer any and all questions.  I also pull a healing Oracle card.  While I at times have to explain the card, more often than not it explains itself...most times it's exactly what we spoke of!

Before I leave the session, I always remind the client that just because I leave doesn't mean the healing is over...Reiki can work for days or weeks after.

What a blessing!

When You Begin

While I have only been on my journey for a short time, I feel there are a few things I wish I had been told when I began my first steps.  So, today I'll put them out into the universe so that I can maybe help someone who is joining the journey

--Start small!  I know it's exciting and you want to do all of the things and get all of the things to do all of the things....but SLOW DOWN!  You'll see aesthetics on social media and assume that's how your practice should look.  It isn't.  And these days, people are more open to being on a "path less travelled" which has made prices of all the things skyrocket.  Thrift stores are a great place to score things you may need.

--Buy only what you need!  I found a shop with fresh dried herbs and went crazy!  I bought way too much, and I still have some that I look at and laugh because I know I went crazy.  When doing rituals/spells, you don't need a large amount of an ingredient.  It isn't exact.  At least, in my practice I'm not exact.  I do what feels right.  A pinch of this a dash of that ( I guess that's where my Cajun comes into play).  I grew up learning to cook without set recipes, so that's how my spells are.

--It's OK if you don't know which specific path you're on!  I still consider myself eccletic.  I tend to mod podge different practices and beliefs together to create my own path.  Some people say you can't do that--but I've done just fine thus far.

--Do NOT do any spell work until you are ready!  Being a witch doesn't mean you spend all your time doing spells.  Buy books.  Research.  Then check that research to make sure it's accurate.  You want to know what you're putting into your work and why.  The knowledge adds to the intention.

--Be ready to learn!  I know now that this journey will have me learning for the rest of my life.  I have more books now that I've ever had before.  I'll be into three books at a time.  I have Pinterest boards filled with tips and tidbits.  My Amazon wish list is always changing and evolving, always adding more books I'd like to own.  Sure, EBooks are great.  I just prefer the actual book in hand.  And just the thought of the learning gets me excited!  It's a spark I had thought died out long ago.

--You do NOT have to be Pagan to be a witch!  Yes, in my journey I have chosen to walk the Pagan path.  But there are Christian witches!  Witchcraft is not a religion.

--Be ready for a spiritual awakening!  Yeah, that slapped me in my face really hard.  I didn't even know what it was when I started with it.  It's crazy to feel so small yet so mighty once your awakening begins.

These are just a few things I think could have saved me time/money.  I still have my moments of yelling at myself that I don't need another crystal or the shiny that looks like something I may one day need.  Sometimes I don't listen.  And that's OK--it's part of the journey.

And, if you ever need someone to talk to, reach out!  I may not know the answer but I sure as heck will try to find it!

Be Blessed.

Fuss Me

Don't you just love when life kicks in and  you lose track of time and days?

Sadly, that happened.  That's why you haven't heard from me here since Pi Day.  I told myself I'd keep up with blogging.  However, between life and not having a very good computer to work on I've slacked--a LOT.

However, I refuse to be hard on myself.  I do this to help others, but more to help myself.  Putting things down "on paper" helps me both with memory and a form of meditation.

"Meditation?  Isn't that sitting there with music or chimes or something?"

Yes, that is one way to meditate.  But there are so many ways to meditate.  I sometimes can't quiet my mind to get to a meditative state by just sitting there.  So I write.  I sit down and jot anything down that comes to mind.  Sometimes it's just cute little doodles or phrases that don't make sense.  BUT sometimes it's things that can help.  Other times it makes me feel better because I get whatever it is out of my physical body.

Side note~you can also dance, sing, scream--meditation isn't a straight form practice.  It's simply finding something that works for you to get into a more peaceful and focused state.  Movement like dance is great because it can be meditative, cleansing, and vibration raising!  I'll be the first to admit I can't dance, but I do because it's so freeing to just let the music move me!

This is my Spring Break from my 9-5 job.  I'm hoping to get here and get typing away more.  I do have some appointments with clients this week (yay for those trying out energy work for the first time), so I'm SUPER stoked to be doing my prework for those.  I'm also considering setting up on Etsy to see how my divination business can grow.

For those wondering, I do Oracle, Tarot, pendulum, tea reading, and Bibliomancy.  I'm best at Oracle, and I'm just starting out on tea and Bibliomancy, but I'm SO eager to learn more about them!  The only way I'll get better is practice.  So, if you're interested, let me know!

Oh What a Ride

I haven't abandoned you, dear loves. Life has been in fast motion as of late for me. There's so much change, and I am just enjoying ...
